A school with adequate facilities, collaborative decision making, and respectful interpersonal relations between students, staff, and parents, as well as other personnels can enhance academic achievement level in the schools. The present study was undertaken to study and compare the environment and safety of government and private schools. The sample comprised of 180 school students between the age group of 14 –15 years (class-IX) drawn from the Jorhat district of Assam. Data was collected from the respondents by using schedule to assess social relationship and to assess different aspects related to teaching and learning. It can be highlighted from the findings that all the private schools had high and average level of social relationship. In the aspect of teaching and learning the level was also found to be average. But in government schools the levels were found to be in average and low as far as social relationship and teaching – learning aspects are concerned. Statistical analysis (z-test) also showed a highly significant difference between government and private schools in the dimensions of social relationship and in the aspect of teaching and learning.Keywords

Marital adjustment is important for a successful married life. Rogers (1972) views the concept of marriage as basis of many marital adjustments. The present study was undertaken to study the marital adjustment of government and private teachers and to examine if there is any significant difference between the two groups across different aspects of marital adjustment. The study was conducted in Jorhat district of Assam. Atotal of 100 samples (50 government teachers & 50 private teachers) were selected purposively for the study. Data was collected from the respondents by using an interview schedule prepared by the researcher. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents were in average level of financial adjustment, emotional compatibility and upbringing of children. However, government teachers were found better adjusted than private teachers in all aspects of marital adjustment. Statistical analysis (z-test) also showed a significant difference between the two groups in the aspect of financial adjustment and upbringing of children. There was no significant difference found between the two groups in the aspect of emotional compatibility.Keywords

Children are beautiful, innocent little beings. They are precious and each unique. All children deserve to have great parents (Singh, 2008). The present study was undertaken to study and compare the attitude and involvement of parents towards Normal and Developmentally Challenged children. A total of 20 Families having a developmentally challenged child were selected purposively from different villages of Karbi Anglong District. An interview schedule was prepared as tool for data collection. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the parents gives maximum time to their developmentally challenged child as they cannot perform their daily activities like the normal children and they need help and support more than that of the normal children. Majority of the parents feel that they are burden to them as the child is too dependent. They avoid taking the child to public gatherings feeling that others will talk ill of his/her condition. Most of the respondents (parents) were found to have positive attitude towards their normal children.Keywords
